The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring has a ton of boss fights, but only a few of them are mandatory if you want to complete the story of the content. To encounter these main bosses players will need to have explore quite a bit of the new Realm of Shadow map in the game, but given the open nature of Elden Ring, players can swiftly make their way through the new content without engaging in much of the side content, if any.
Here’s a list of all the main bosses in Shadow of the Erdtree
Shadow of the Erdtree Story Main Bosses
These bosses need to be completed to finish the story of Shadow of the Erdtree.
- Messmer the Impaler – Shadow Keep
- Romina, Saint of the Bud – Church of the Bud
- Needle Knight Leda, Hornsent, and Dryleaf Dane – Enir Ilim
- Promised Consort Radahn – Enir-Ilim
Messmer the Impaler – Shadow Keep
Messmer the Impaler can be found tucked away in the Shadow Keep. This massive installation is located in the northern part of the map, and is one of the biggest and most challenging dungeon areas in the DLC. Players will need to make their way through a difficult Golden Hippo boss fight as well as some tough fire spell weilding enemies throughout the keep. Once they’ve made it Messmer they’re in for another test of their skill. If you’ve spoken with them, Hornsent can help you with this fight if you’ve met them at the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace.
Romina, Saint of the Bud – Church of Bud
Romina, Saint of the Bud can be found at the Church of Bud. This Church is located in the northwestern part of the map, just west of the Shadow Keep. In fact, the easiest way to get there is by taking the West Ramparts of the Shadow Keep. From there navigate through the Rauh Ancient Ruins and onward to the church. Similarly, the boss fight will provide NPC assistance if you’ve spoken with Dryleaf Dane. Completing this boss fight will allow you to burn the tree which blocks the path to Enir-Ilim
Needle Knight Leda and Allies – Enir Ilim
The NPC’s that have helped you in battle will then raise up against you when they discover your intentions. Needle Knight Leda, Hornsent, and Dryleaf Dane will try to stop your progress to the final boss fight of the expansion. You’ll need to make your way through a bunch of treacherous new magic wielding enemies as you progress through Enir-Ilim, but thankfully the NPC trio is not nearly as formidable as some of the bosses that you’ve encountered thus far. Unfortunately, what awaits following this fight is a little more difficult.
Promised Consort Radahn – Enir Ilim
The final boss of the story component of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC culminates with Promised Consort Radahn. A boss battle that is tricky for the most skilled adventurers, Radahn in a small room is like a bull in a China shop. While the base game had you facing the General on a large battlefield with the ability to summon a ton of aid. This boss fight isn’t quite as easy, as he’s no longer on horseback and the room that you need to fight him in is quite small.
While that might be the end of the story if you are victorious, take solace in the fact that that are many, many other bosses to fight in Shadow of the Erdtree if you want to take on the many different side content activities that the expansion has to offer.
